Doll making and a heavenly cake & sew & tell Fridays

After I had made the bunnies

I was hooked...

I started drawing some doll bodies and rummaged in my scraps.

She was the first try:

Lynn choosed the hair color and named her Annabelle.

And of course she needed friends.

It is true, no one should be without friends.

And Léo likes dolls too...

So voilà: Meet Ben and Sara!

I had the idea of stitching the faces and hair but the children wanted to draw it themselves and now they even have the jewelery tattooed on!

They also made quite exact drawings of other anatomical details, now hidden by the cloth I finished shortly before leaving for a walk around a nearby village.

You can`t buy this cake everywhere but I know the places and never resist...

and you have to work hard after this to loose the calories again too!

Yes, it is hard to survey the children when they are playing.

Back home I made the two February blocks for the Quilting Bee.

Maria asked to make a disappearing nine patch pattern.

She selected different Christmas themed fabric to make a nice quilt for the next season.

P.S.: I made two potholders out of the started granny squares. We were in need of some up in the hut.

Granny squares

Yesterday I made my first 2 granny squares.

( after spending several hours watching the tutorials on you tube..)

Wow,

this is fun and rewarding!

I have no plans for them, but it is just the right project to take with me for our stay in the mountains.

We have an alpine hut witch we can visit in the winter month. ( I already spent my winter holidays there as a kid)

During summer it is home to a herdsman who comes up with his cows.

No electricity,

No current water inside,

just a fountain outside with VERY fresh water.

Beautiful views, silence, snow, simple pleasures, good times ahead!

So in the evenings there will be much time to do some crochet....

Here comes the sun

Out of the gray, fogy plains we went,

up the hills to search the for the

sun.

Then we found it and had the most beautiful views

on the alps!

We spent the day skiing and sledging and recharging our "batteries" only to dive back in the

clouds!

But to add some more colour to the day I will go on cutting in my fabric stash to get some supply for the challenge I` participating.

Impressions of France

The first thing after arriving at the family`s home is always heading to the stables to say hello to the horses and donkeys.

And as soon as possible making the first ride.

Cookie the girl donkey had a baby 3 month ago witch she did`t adopt. So they had to feed him ever since and it was sooo much fun and too cute to see the kids taking over this job during our stay.

Early morning visit to say hello...

...only to go for an other ride through the vines as soon as possible!

A visit in the nearby village St. Emilion where one of the most famous Bordeaux wines are growing.

(Did I mention that my in-law`s are living near Bordeaux...)

Hehe I now, I am a lucky girl never running short of good Bordeaux wine..;))

A trip to the Atlantic coast.

The weather was still warm enough to go for a swim and except for a few surfers we had the endless beach almost for our self.

Then a visit to Cap Ferret to taste some fresh oysters and enjoy the beautiful landscape and villages there.

Back from the sea we had a few other sunny and warm days...

...before we had to go back home...

...again....

Au revoir et a bientot la belle vie...



....because here its log fire-and-snuggling-up weather already!

Autumn impressions

We went for a walk…

…in the JURA.

I love the landscape there, especially in the autumn when the fog gives an almost mystic touch to it…..

So we were…

…walking…lalalala I`m walking…tatatata…
