Trash to treasure tuesday

Did I mention that I love thrift stores and flea markets?

I do

and I have my "bunch" of thrift stores that I visit regularly

A while ago I was lucky and found these two lovelies

And this weekend I finally had the time to sand them down and give them a new look

Now this is Lynn`s new treasure box

And this is mine:

I liked the chest from the moment I discovered it but
when I opened the drawers and saw the compartments
I knew It would be perfect to store my ribbons, bindings and laces!

And I absolutely LOVE those handles!

It is relaxing to know that now I have an other mess free zone in my sewing studio.

Have a nice day

Doll making and a heavenly cake & sew & tell Fridays

After I had made the bunnies

I was hooked...

I started drawing some doll bodies and rummaged in my scraps.

She was the first try:

Lynn choosed the hair color and named her Annabelle.

And of course she needed friends.
It is true, no one should be without friends.

And Léo likes dolls too...

So voilà: Meet Ben and Sara!

I had the idea of stitching the faces and hair but the children wanted to draw it themselves and now they even have the jewelery tattooed on!
They also made quite exact drawings of other anatomical details, now hidden by the cloth I finished shortly before leaving for a walk around a nearby village.

A perfectly blue sky

Simple pleasures

The village
with a cozy Tea Room where we indulged ourself with a piece of St. Honoré.

You can`t buy this cake everywhere but I know the places and never resist...
and you have to work hard after this to loose the calories again too!

Yes, it is hard to survey the children when they are playing.

(Picture this: Me, sitting on a bench soaking in the sunlight)

Did I mention that I LOVE spring?

And since today,
we are prepared for summer guests too.

I hope you have a lovely day with some nice things to enjoy.

Each and every year it`s the same

I don`t need a calendar to know when February is here.

Even knowing the facts,

I suddenly have this desire of gardening.

Can`t stop thinking about what to plant and eventually change in the garden.

I see

Colourful flowerbeds!

Vegetables growing in abundance!

(Here you are allowed to laugh out loud,
this is more a dream than ever going to be reality...)

But then, all I can do is bring the feeling of spring, flower and garden in the house.

I`m absolutely unable to pass beside the gardening department in the shopping mall without going inside to have a look,

loose control

and bring home some of the flower- power-happiness.

Mmhh...

So little investment to get so much to enjoy!

I hope you have something that brings happiness in your days!

Autumn decoration

At last I`m getting in the mood and did some fall decoration.

Despite the nice warm weather I also made updated the inside of the house and made a wreath with fabric scraps.
I had the tutorial for ever in my "creative book", a notebook where I keep tons of ideas, tutorials and inspirational pictures I find everywhere in magazines and books Or my mind.

Doing this wreath is easy: Take or make a wreath out of wire and cut stripes of fabric approx. 1.5cm in large and 10-12 cm in length and then knot them on the wreath until its as voluptuous as you like it. It can be necessary to cut al in shape at the end.

Now have fun and use up your fabric leftovers!

I also made this small table runner to bring some fall colours in the room. The fabric is from moda
the " 9 from Sanae" line.

Sewing again

After a 3 week sewing break I managed to sit down and sew again!!! Pfff this was

goood

Being on holiday and having family visiting from France is nice and I enjoyed it very much but there was no time for sewing or making much of creative stuff.

We did cook allot tough ( with French people around you spend a looot of time cooking and chatting and drinking aperitifs...)

Oh yes, this was goood too

but

I was really ready to do some sewing again!!

As kindergarten starts again next week, we are preparing all the things Lynn needs for the new school year. One of them is a bag for her sport stuff. I made her a drawstring backpack the fabric is a Japanese print and unfortunately I don't know where I bought it. I would like to have more of it.

( I will have to keep a report book of my fabric buys ;)..)

And then I visited my favorite thrift store and made a lucky find!

O.K. O.K. this is isn`t too exciting...I know

But

I saw the potential!

Never judge someone on the first sight, right?

Aand, ta daa...

After a few hours of beauty treatment this is what it looks like now!

Just perfect in our bedroom to store the bed linen.
Just perfect!

Now all I need is a few hours of beauty treatment too...

But I already have an appointment.

In the garden.

With my friends the snails.

They ate all the salads I planted Saturday!!!

This will not be a very friendly meeting I can tell you...
But for you, I hope you have a friendly day

Varicella

Leo has a varicella infection! Poor boy and although I really love dots, I prefere them on fabric or mugs.

This means that we are more or less attached to the house.

Which means Leo is more or less attached to me ..

..which means I can't do anything than pamper him, reading stories or building huge towers with his Legos. ( In the meantime the dish-, laundry- and dust towers are building up also...

So I was thinking I could invite you to a short stroll to our house. Just showing you a few spots.
I am a home deco magazine addict and just love to see pictures of interiors. ant I KNOW there are others like me out there.
I'm not alone.
Please say yes!

I have allways flowers in the house. So I can never have too many glass vases.

Flowers on the wall of Lynn's room. The spot in the grass is lipstick. My VERY RED kind of VERY LONG LASTING lipstick!

Leo's room is decorated in a nautic theme. The live buoy is fom my husbands grandparents sailing boat. They were sailing around the world for 5 years after retiering.

My favorite place to browse in those mentioned magazines or knit or snuggle up with the children and their books or thinking about new crafting projects or....

A corner of the bathroom.
Actually the only one presentable.
You remember, the Lego towers !

This table is the result of one quick trip to the thrift store, one can of black spray paint and one black spot in the lawn of the backyard.
Et voila !

I love vintage soda bottles. The white one I carried for several weeks in my backpack while traveling around New Zealand.

I was young
and strong
and crazy.

Fortunately the weather is better now and we can also escape in to the garden and at last enjoy some summer days

And fill up with vitamines.

I hope you are all in good health.

That's what matters the most after all.

A lot of questions, few answers

Creativity or just a mess ?

A quilt for Leo?
